The NEHI theater is up and running and full of hard work, fun, stress, and dedication. The theater program started off the school year with Moon Over Buffalo, A low comedy, drama pact performance. The play takes place during the 1950s in a repertory theater set in Buffalo New York. Charlotte suspects her husband of having a “one night stand” with Eileen. Charlotte becomes enraged by the fact that she had to hear the news from the women her husband impregnated. George Hay struggles to keep the theater open, and to stop Rosalind from abandoning the most important performance of their lives. He decides to escape his problems by abandoning the theater temporarily to get extremely drunk. While his wife, daughter and Paul is on the hunt for a intoxicated George, they are spontaneously given the opportunity to perform for Frank Capra, a very famous movie director, for which will make or break their careers  .

Cast:

  • Jack Schott as George Hay, a traveling actor.
  • Gabrielle as Charlotte Hay, George’s wife and actress in his company.
  • Rachele Lee as Rosalind, Roz, George & Charlotte’s daughter, who left the stage to lead a “normal” life.
  • Brandon Stanley as Howard, a TV weather and Rosalind’s fiancé.
  • Conner Finehout as Paul, stage manager for George’s company, and Rosalind’s ex-fiancé.
  • Brittany Douglas and Chelsey Holdshoe as Ethel, Charlotte’s nearly-deaf mother.
  • Andrew  Enright Ryan Matthews as Richard, a love sick lawyer who is courting Charlotte.
  • Claire Hendrix and Kaitlyn Hudson as Eileen, an actress in George’s company who was George’s “one-night stand.”

Moon Over Buffalo was a laughter filled, fun night with an occasional gasp because of all the crazy betrayal, surprising re connections, and the occasional falling drunk man off the stage . The actors put all they had out on the stage for four nights and one afternoon matinee. The whole rehearsal and performance process was a success with the absence of any drama and motivational talks to cheer up “self downing”actors. The set was built out of reused material and still came out eye catching as usual. The set proves that a budget does not have to result in imagination of the audience and miming techniques. Find out if the NEHI theatre can continue to live up to its acting and tech potential in the next spring show Noises off by  Michael Frayn.  Cast member Claire Hendrix said, “It was one of the funniest things I have ever laid my eyes on.”
